Why are YouTube shorts important? This is a newer feature on YouTube and some people are asking should they be going short form? Should they be going long form? I think it’s a good idea to have a mix of the two. So in this case, why YouTube shorts though?
So the first reason is it’s short form content, which is really, really hot right now. Meaning if you can get your message across or say what you need to say in less than 30 seconds, it’s a good thing because people’s attention spans are very small, so they wanna get in and get out with their information.So that’s just something to keep in mind. If you can make your video as short as possible, you probably should because people typically don’t watch the whole video.
The second reason is it increases your engagement. YouTube has a unique feature where you can swipe up to get to the next video short, and that way you can really digest the content quickly and that increases your engagement with your followers because they want to see more since they can digest it faster. So it’s definitely a way to increase your engagement.
Number three, it’s really just growing in popularity. YouTube shorts, even though they’re not super new, they’re still something that a lot of people have not embraced. The more creators start to create that short form video, then basically that’s a growing opportunity to reach more audiences as you gather your followers.
Number four, the algorithm that YouTube has placed on the short on the YouTube shorts means they are showing it to you more often in your feed on YouTube. They want you to embrace that YouTube short world. So that’s kind of handy and I have noticed that that does work because I have started incorporating some shorter videos into my client’s YouTube channels, and I’ve noticed that their views are higher than the longer video. So it’s just something to keep in mind. Also, what’s really nice is, if you start to accumulate some shorts, you can use those for YouTube ads as well. That’s a whole other topic!
